how do I get out the rat race?

Ive just got on the property ladder this year, as in previous years, I've built up my CV so I can earn the salary that I have now (in previous salaries, I wasn't able to get my own place, because mortgage). But now I have my place, I now want to work on not having to work in order to pay off my mortgage and live my life, spending the precious moments I have left with my elderly parents. My current plan is to release equity after a few years and turn the property into a rental, find another place to live in and basically rinse and repeat that until I have at least my current salary, net, coming in. I enjoy DIY and property renovation, helping my extended family out with huge jobs. I hate my daytime work, and don't want to work for anyone else but myself… Well…

I expect this will take the best part of a decade, if not, longer… So does anyone have any better ideas/ideas to do alongside?

I don't really have a side hussle, and can't think of anything I have to offer for money, without having to work for someone else.
