I recently got a job as a bartender at an Italian restuarant because I'm in my summer holidays and need cash. I explained to my boss that I'm available full time until September but after that can work part time – I was under the impression that I'd get hours reflecting this as I was offered the job about 5-10 minutes after I walked into the interview. Looking back, that was a mistake.
My first week – last week – I had 15 hours. This week I have 10. Next week I have 6. The only reason I'm staying in this city was because I thought this job would provide me enough money to cover rent until my next uni year, and I'm getting paid minimum wage. This isn't what I (should have) signed up for. How can I let my boss know I need more hours? I'm going to be looking for another job anyway but I'm starting to get concerned I'll be in financial trouble when my rent is due in 2 months.
