How do I let my boss know I need more hours?

I recently got a job as a bartender at an Italian restuarant because I'm in my summer holidays and need cash. I explained to my boss that I'm available full time until September but after that can work part time – I was under the impression that I'd get hours reflecting this as I was offered the job about 5-10 minutes after I walked into the interview. Looking back, that was a mistake. My first week – last week – I had 15 hours. This week I have 10. Next week I have 6. The only reason I'm staying in this city was because I thought this job would provide me enough money to cover rent until my next uni year, and I'm getting paid minimum wage.
