i don’t know if this is the right sub so i’m sorry, it’s the first one that came up when i typed in “how to quit job” lol
this is my first time quitting, im 18 and planning to leave over summer (to find another job because i really don’t like this one i am miserable). i got laid off from my last job so i never got to gain “quitting” experience.
i like my manager well enough but there’s certain aspects of the job that just make it an absolute shithole (i have to pressure people to sign up for credit cards, nobody wants to, very competitive workplace , im pretty sure i have anxiety, you know how it is)
i know that i can just hand in a resignation and be on my way but i feel like i need to lie and explain myself, like “oh i’m moving!” or “oh i just want a job in ___ field” but the truth is i just want a customer service job minus the credit card thing, because that’s the root cause of everything i don’t like about my job. i want to quit in a way that allows me to keep my employer as a reference and maintain a decent relationship with the company, but i feel like it’s disrespectful to quit when i’m just looking for what she may view as basically the same job somewhere else.
i don’t know what the likelihood of a new employer actually contacting her is, but in my opinion it’s high enough that i shouldn’t put her down without permission.
