Employer firing employee.
Employer: I'm letting you go, effective immediately, because you called in last minute and didn't produce a doctor's note for a whole week.
Employee- I can't afford a doctor's appointment and my insurance doesn't pay anything until my $3500 deductible is met. The price of an appointment if I use my insurance is more expensive than if I didn't have insurance at all and I get an appointment without using my insurance and pay that higher price, it doesn't get applied to my deductible at all. And the without insurance rate isn't even that much cheaper, so I couldn't afford that either anyway. I'm living paycheck to paycheck. This will financially devastate me and if I can't find a job and get another paycheck before rent is due, I'll lose my home.
Employer: Not my problem. Attendance is important. We were short staffed that week because no one was available to cover your shift.
This is expected and acceptable
Employee- Hey, you haven't given me a raise in 3 years. I found another job paying twice as much with better benefits. I start tomorrow. I quit.
Employer – WHAT! You're required to give at least two weeks notice! This will be be devastating to our bottom line!
Terrible employee has committed a great injustice against employer
