I’ve been at several different jobs in several different industries only to have the same story: get abused beyond the 40 hours per week despite setting extremely clear expectations I’m only in the job roles for work-life balance, get abused repeatedly by female bosses (I can’t seem to get hired on by males), and constant guilt tripping when I try to take a day off even for something important such as the doctor’s. Our US Employment laws sucks for salary employees. There's nothing in the law that protects us or future mothers. It sucks for those who want to do family planning & really want to have a kid.
I don’t want to continue working 40+ hours a week – not be able to enjoy any hobbies, be so anxiety ridden about my next to-do at the job, rarely see family, rarely see friends, never get an opportunity to travel. I feel like I cannot have a kid with these bad working conditions. For those of you that have kids, how do you guys do it… How do people work these kind of jobs and still decide to have kids??? How do you guys make it work & still be happy???? I really want a kid but I’m getting discouraged because I continue to be in bad working conditions that would not be healthy for a child to live in.
