Long story short, I’ve wanted to get into the mental health field for YEARS. I finally found a job in the field almost a year ago, and while I absolutely love the job…. I could make the same amount I do now working at target as I do going above and beyond to literally save lives. I was originally hired as a “gopher”, but I’m really good at research, and now I’m being tasked with major company wide strategy projects. I can’t really brag about my abilities because I’m still borderline destitute, but I’m definitely good enough for the higher ups to keep giving me high profile projects. I half jokingly told my previous boss I thought I should make “the big bucks”, and they said “I agree, but we’re ‘a startup’”. On one hand I’ve been in manual labor my whole life and finally feel like I’m being used to my full potential, but on the other hand…. I can barely pay bills. I had someone willing to pay me almost 100x what I make now to do what I can do, but my NDA prevents it. Any advice is helpful. Thank you in advance!
