How do you reconcile “working your wage” with just how much time of your life work takes up?

I really believe in the concept of “working your wage” and just viewing work as a way to fund your life/hobbies, but I’m struggling with how much of my life work takes up. I’m spending over half my life doing shit I don’t care about and when I get home I’m too exhausted to do anything I’m actually passionate about. Idk what to do. Do I take a risk and do all the work to change fields simply bc I think it looks cool? Is this just capitalism and I need to suck it up? Is anyone even happy at work at all? My bf is just so zen about work and can compartmentalize really easily, I wanna be more like him.
