How does your employer have more power over you than you have negotiating with them?
Examples (not exhaustive):
- I depend on them for health insurance I need for my family
- My landlord likes to be paid rent in money
- How else can I buy food?
- I can't get hired on, I've been contract labor for 18 months
- We have vacation, we're just not allowed to use it
- My sick days expire, if I don't use them I lose them
- If I don't use my dental benefits by the end of the year they expire, if my teeth break after they expire I wait until January of the next year
- They'll lay me off then have the person I trained to do my job replace me for less.
- They lobby politicians/city councilors
