I've always been pretty lucky with jobs, and any I don't like I just leave. I've ended up in a role where we are all pretty close, management treat us like people, and I genuinely think I'll be here until retirement.
My wife on the other hand is on minimum wage, works in a place with a toxic culture, is constantly asked questions on her days off, and is constantly stressed.
I keep trying to get her to stand up for herself but she won't. At least once per week she's spending an hour or so explaining herself for other people's mistakes or due to terrible processes and systems.
She feels obligated to respond no matter what I say. Like she's fearful of losing her minimum wage job that she hates. (I could easily support get whilst she finds something else)
I feel like I'm at my wit's end. How can convince her that she shouldn't be putting in even a minute extra time in with being on minimum wage?
I've tried explaining it's not her business so she shouldn't be killing herself.
To top it off her boss always referred to them as being like a family.
