So I worked for a large construction company for a year then I was fired for smoking a joint after work while we were working out of town. I don’t want to work for that company again but they were part of a larger group of companies and one part of that group is a really good unionized construction company and I’d like to work for them but I’m worried they’ll find out I was fired from one of the companies in the group once I provide my social insurance number.
Do companies retain your personal information like social insurance number forever or is there a set amount of time they’re allowed/typically keep terminated employees personal information ?
