TLDR: how to calculate worth of 10+ years experience during wage increase going on in the US, when looking for a new job.
I see so many jobs starting at $15 an hour now. Nice to see minimum wage going up, (slowly).
A little resume background:
Back in 2014 I had about 6 years experience in my industry (administrative work) and earned $15/hr. I moved states, got a “good” job where I live now,(made $18.50/hr in 2021) but due to covid, I left my job.
Question:
Now I'm looking to get into executive admin, Sr. Admin jobs.
I have 10+ years experience.
With minimum wage going up… HOW MUCH AM I WORTH NOW?
Going off of Glassdoor doesn't seem correct because it relies on the past, when everyone was making pennies.
I don't want to look back at my past earnings and continue to base my worth on those pennies. I want to fight for what I know I'm worth. The hard part is trying to determine what that is.
