How much is enough pay in Canada?

So I notice a lot of this sub seems to deal with stuff and people in the US, but I live on Prince Edward Island in Canada. I get paid 14.50$ an hour, when our province minimum wage went up, I got no raise, when I came back from the off season they gave me a whole fifty cent raise, I was making 14.00 for the first season. Also found out from my friend who I recommended that they got the same 50 cent raise as me after working there for maybe and month and was told not to tell me. I thought this job was great when I started, really hard work but I love my coworkers. But this summer was absolutely brutal, we were understaffed to hell and the supervisors didn’t really help us, just handed us a list of sometimes 18 rooms to clean and said go,…

But this summer was absolutely brutal, we were understaffed to hell and the supervisors didn’t really help us, just handed us a list of sometimes 18 rooms to clean and said go, and got mad when we couldn’t get it all done in time (we have about six hours from when we start to check in time). And now, my supervisor denied my coworker the weekend off (which I believe she requested a week and a half or two weeks) before that weekend, and when my coworker told her she had already booked hotels in another province cause her she was going with her sister, my supervisor told her she shouldn’t have done that without being given the time off. And then, my supervisor gave herself that weekend off. Plus another two days this week for a total of four days off. She coaches ice skating or something in the winter as well which I guess is her excuse. I’m starting to hate this job and it’s bad pay. I feel stupid for thinking anything above minim wage was really good, but our rental market is hell, a single room in a big shared house can easily be up to a thousand, I’ve seen so many two bedroom apartments for two thousand or more with no utilities. I’m 19 and already the outlook is bad, so I found a government program and I’m going to take a course to be a resident care worker. How much is fair pay for this job in a place with cost of living this high? Ideally, I would like to buy a home as soon as the market crashes, or move to New Brunswick and buy one there, it is significantly better. I’m still young though, so I need advice so I don’t screw myself over. Thanks everyone!
