How should I answer “where do you see yourself in 5 years” for jobs I don’t want to stay at in 5 years?

I’ve been mostly unemployed for almost a year after fracturing my spine at the end of November last year (epileptic seizure.) I used to be a preschool teacher and an office administrator before the pandemic, now I’m going back to school in a few months to get my child development degree and return to preschool teaching. I’ve been doing Grubhub since 3 months after I fractured my spine. Now I’m trying to get an hourly position, and I’ve been struggling to get one. I interviewed for a waitressing job at Denny’s and they asked me where I saw myself in 5 years and what my future plans were, and I told them that I was returning to school for Child Development. Everybody keeps telling me that McDonalds won’t ask me questions like that, but I’ve done multiple interviews where I didn’t expect a complex interview, and they did ask in-depth questions. I guess basically what I’m asking is, how tf should I answer that? There’s nothing wrong with working at McDonalds but, obviously I don’t dream of working at McDonald’s at 35 years old and I don’t particularly want to get into restaurant management or own a McDonald’s franchise. I don’t want to lie and say I do, I’m a bad liar. What do I say if they do ask?
