How should I go about putting in my two weeks?

A little context: I am 18 years old (birthday was in March) and I’ve been working my very first job which I took on this summer because I wanted to make a bit of extra cash for college. I never planned to stay past the start of the first semester which is on the 29th. Naturally, as this is my first job, I don’t have a lot of experience relating to this. I’m going to put in my 2 weeks today (I will be going in in around 3 hours.) but I’m very nervous about it. I know pretty much everybody says to put your resignation in writing but is there any more specific advice for how to handle it? A coworker just recently put in her two weeks and I’m scared they’ll be upset with me for it seeing as we’re already understaffed. What if they ask me to…

Should I quit on the spot? Would that make me a dick?
