Call me crazy but they seem to keep moving the benchmark in this “ladder” they keep telling us to climb in the corporate world. I'm browsing job openings and I see ridiculous positions having a hierarchy like:
- Associate
- Senior Associate
- Analyst
- Junior Analyst
- Senior Analyst
- Specialist
- Senior Specialist
- Assistant Manager
- Manager
- Senior Manager
Those are just examples of what I've seen and they're more or less like that. I'm sure some of the positions are valid and have always existed like the Assistant Manager one but what the fuck is a Senior Specialist? Or what the fuck is up with the multiple levels in each position?
It gives off the illusion of progress in the corporate ladder but those are just titles they give away like candy to keep us satisfied and not realize they keep moving the goalposts of “success” aka earning a livable wage someday. I guarantee that with each “promotion”, it's still a shit pay with minimal increase and double the amount of workload.
It's a joke. Fuck them. We don't need to climb the nonexistent ladder they made up. Pay us.
