Hi I’m currently a paid Teacher-Intern during the summers (for summer school in a small town, heavy dominated by republicans) and constantly work in public education with a variety of roles (such as subbing, teaching, paraprofessional work, etc.) at different places. I’m currently in college and getting a degree to become a teacher. Part of my summer employment requirements are that I don’t have the ability to join a Union and during the regular school year I work via 3rd party contracted to a district because it pays way more. I don’t believe I can join a Union nor Unionize because of my position. How would you recommend participating in a general strike/protest with out the protections of a Union/supports (such as a supporting group/staff/people). If I can participate fully in a Strike (such as the one people are advocating for this Monday June 27) how would you recommend me to “slow down” at my work place? How could I explain it to students, staff, and the district?
