I’ve been at this company for almost a year, where I’m part of a 2 person production team. The whole time we’ve been splitting the duties where I have done the less critical half of the duties, while the other person has done the more critical duties. He has the title of “productions manager”, while I am just a production associate.
About 2 months ago our boss had us switch it up, where I am now doing 50% of the critical work and 50% of the easy work that I used to be in charge of, and the “production manager” is doing the same. We now have virtually the same duties. I think it’s very clear to the boss that I do a great job and am bringing value to the team.
Now the kicker, this has not come with a promotion! I am now doing more stressful, critical management work, and being paid just as much as I was to do only the easier work. What the hell? I have brought this up to middle management, and the only excuse I’ve heard is that the boss is “swamped, busy, and is working on it”, but I don’t see him coming in the office until 3 hours after me, I sense BS.
It has now been 3 pay checks where I feel I am underpaid for the new workload. The yes-man in me wants to be a good boy and sit and wait until the boss decides to give me the raise. But I feel disrespected and taken advantage of! I want to be paid for the extra work and stress I’m taking on!
Any advice? Should I just call a meeting with big boss and tell him my feelings? TYIA
