How to not feel guilty for taking a sick day

I just got over having covid and had 4 days off work. I was supposed to go back today but I woke up still feeling like ass and had a fever. I called out 2 hours before my shift and got hung up on when I tried to explain why I couldn't of called earlier (I was asleep, and I felt mostly fine the night before). My manager texted the group chat saying that I called out because I “didn't feel like I could work today” and that she would have a talk with me when I'm back. Why do companies do this?? Every job I've had makes me feel awful for calling in even when I legitimately can't work. Employees get sick, it's natural!
