I started a job as a receptionist in a medical clinic a little over two months ago. I never intended to stay long here, just enough to find another job. Well, I did and it’s much much better, work from home and pays literally double. Now I have anxiety about quitting this position because I was very well treated here. It pays dimes, but I rarely stress at this job (only when literal pos clients start yelling for bs). I was going to give a two weeks notice, but now my husband is asking me to go out of country to see his elderly dad. I won’t be able to take a vacation for a year in this new position, so right now is literally the only time we could both go.
I do not care about references from current employer. I am not staying in the same field and I doubt will ever seek employment from them again. I know for a fact me leaving without notice will affect them since the receptionist does most of the HR and customer service for the clinic.
What excuses can I give that I am not coming in next morning and are irrefutable? I don’t want to be rude but just any excuse that will not lead to “when should we expect you back”. I dont care about how ethical or unethical the excuse is – just something that will get me out of this job.
Thanks for your advice.
