I just started working at McDonalds to be able to pay for rent and bills during my college's summer break. I've never worked fast food before and I was recently hired at McDonalds. I needed a job fast and it was my only option.
I started work today and I was being trained by an employee who didn't seem too interested in helping me understand things fully. I would ask questions and sometimes he would say “I don't really know”. He showed me a few stations and what to do and forgot others.
I wasn't really given any direction and was mostly floating around, getting in everyone's way unsure of what to be doing. I've already been yelled at by the customers on day one, so I've already got the classic customer service experience. I've also felt and seen the looks and whispers of some of the employees who are very clearly annoyed with the new hire being in their way. I've also noticed some passive aggression. Apparently this lack of direction is common and yet I'm being judged for it by snobby employees.
I have a history of depression, self harm, suicidal ideation and suicide attempts. Does anyone have any advice on how to survive working at McDonalds? Because it's the first day and I'm already having bad thoughts.
