HR Bullshit at it’s finest

So a couple weeks ago my work had their company wide quarterly Town Hall presentation. Personally I don't care about what's going on because I'm pretty low on the corporate ladder and don't actually work for the company, I'm a temp agent that they just keep renewing my contract every 6 months (This will be important information later). But it gives me an excuse to fuck off for an hour so I watched it. As with any town hall, a good portion of the presentation was spent with the company bigwigs going on about how good the company is doing, how much business were generating, and all around the successes we're seeing.

A specific point that stood out was the abundance of jobs that were becoming available.

After they were done stroking themselves off, the floor was opened for anonymous Q&A. Someone asked “What are we doing to increase employee retention and decrease turn over?”

The HR reps answer: “We're doing our best to implement positive Mental Health Awareness promotions and create an inviting workplace to help retain employees” of course, benefits, wages, and hiring practices were never mentioned.

Shortly after another question was posed: “If the business is doing so well and so many jobs are becoming available, will we see these temp contract positions turn into full time positions as promised when we were signed on?”

HR: “This is a staffing strategy that is 'on our radar' but right now we have no plans to make any changes to our contracts.”

This is the first time I've ever experienced genuine HR question dodging and absolute bullshittery first hand. This lady really did go on about how much they care about employees and how successful we're doing and then not 5 minutes later turned around and said the exact opposite. Honestly felt like a slap in the face. Makes me wonder if HR knows how slimy they are when they say this shit, or are they just as out of touch as the rest of the upper management is.

It's no surprise my entire department is now reduced to a fraction of it's size when I started. Even our own team leaders are telling us to find other work within or without the company because the chances of us coming off contract is between slim and none.
