To keep the story short,
I started working in this medical office at the beginning of July, I started out originally as a Full-Time employee. When I was interviewed it was explained to me that half of the full hour we get for lunch would be paid, and I would get 5 hours of PTO each paycheck. I informed them that my full time status would be temporary as I have not finished my degree yet. Since coming back to school in the fall, I have switched to Part-Time and when I made the switch I was informed that I would not get PTO until I hit 1 year with the company. Which I was a bit sad to say the least as I putting in at least 25 hrs with no PTO at all, but I moved on. Recently when I checked my paystub with all the hours I noticed that I was only getting paid for 7.5 hrs (it was explained to me that we work for 7.5 hrs but get paid for 8 with the half hour paid lunch break). HR did not explain this or mention that I would be getting this deducted with my part-time status. It might just be a mistake on the payroll, but if it isn't and it was deducted from my benefits when I switched over (which again she DID NOT mention), is there any legal action I can take? Or is it owed to me considering she didn't say anything about it? I just don't think it is right that this was never mentioned and I had to find out when I took a closer look at my timecard. Any and all help appreciated thank you!
