So recently, I had to leave a pretty nice job because my oldest was severely injured during her very last field trip.
Immediately after this happened, HR demanded a doctors note. The problem was that in all the crazy shit that happened, I forgot to ask for one. You'd think no problem, yea? Think again.
Apparently, I owe the hospital $275 in unpaid fees. I was then told they were going to withhold the note until I paid up.
(She ended up having to be transferred to a better institution anyway, so I was able to secure a note then)
However…
I was terrified of losing my job. In my frantic state, I googled fake doctors notes. I even drafted one up! I got a logo from their website and was legitimately considering turning it in. It had a fake signature from the doctor attached. Had options of water stains and coffee stains, etc.
My one saving grace was the fact that I had bad cell service at the hospital. I ended up having to re-search the site to download my felony.
Upon researching, I clicked an article and read about a few people who had gone down this path and had the whole ass book thrown at them.
I'm not some big shot or anything, but I do think that mistake would have made the local news, at least.
My kiddo is fine today.
And that's the story of how I almost maybe sent myself to prison because American Healthcare it's so fucked up.
