I vent on this sub every few weeks and I'm here again…
I work from home as a data analyst for a small, micromanaged company. I can attest that “small business” does not necessarily equate to a better/nicer place to work. In fact, in a small company, everyone knows everyone and it's very difficult to fly under the radar.
Anyway, I work at LEAST 60 hours a week. As a salaried worker in the USA, I get absolutely nothing extra for the lengthy hours I work. Sadly if I don't keep up with this schedule, I'll just get fired. As someone living on a tight budget, it just isn't practical for me to leave my job and lose my income and health insurance without a back-up plan. I've been applying to various similar positions for the past two months, and though I have had lots of interviews, I have yet to get a job offer. Every day I move closer to saying fuck it, quitting, and just hoping for the best. These insane work hours are killing me both physically and mentally and I feel so trapped.
This is really just a vent-post, but if anyone has recommendations, similar experiences, insights, etc. they would like to share, please do.
