When I got this job in a sweet nursing home, I asked for one day off because I was moving. They didn't gave it to me. I asked for 2 more days, because I was just so tired with working night shifts AND university stuff. They told me I had to find someone to cover for the shift. There is only one person who can cover for it and she also has her hands full with working 7 days per 14 days. I filled the form asking to decrease my disponibility. They denied it. My boss told me I had compensating hours I could take. But, they still did not gave me the time off I requested. They keep asking me to cover for more shifts….while giving days off to others nurses (that also needs it). HR told me I was not doing my part because i did not want to stay 5 more hours after my night shift…labor law state that I can refuse to stay more than 2 hours. Nothing pisses me off more than being told by someone working 9-5 with all their weekends off that I am the one not doing my part. Also my contract says that my working hours is 49 to 56 hours per period. I am currently doing 57,75, while going to school/working on my thesis. And that is excluding all the meetings….That they put in the afternoon, you know, when I am sleeping….
I put in the letter that I am open to negotiate for 4 days work per 14 days.
I got into an agency that contracts nurses. Better pay, you chose the hours.
I am done waiting for my days off….
