Thanks to this sub I am quitting my job as an activities assistant at a nursing home for dementia and Alzheimer’s residents for almost a year at 11 dollars/hour. I love my residents, and I have reported a nurse for abuse, and another nurse for stealing to the executive director (ED), and the next time I went in the nurse threatened me. I also called the ombudsman anonymously for a resident and the ED found out. The nurses don’t want anything to do with me and I’m being harassed by my boss and it’s taking a toll on my mental health.
I have found a much better job that cares for the elderly at their homes. I knew I was going to like this place better when the hiring manager asked if I was going to give them a two week notice, and I said maybe, and she told me to not give one.
