I am not American, so this isn't in USD. The most I would have had the courage to ask for my experience and based on what others that I know are earning would have been 6k-6.5k per month. I didn't answer the salary questions and I asked them what their range was. It was around 8k-12k. I told them 8k-10k would be a salary that would motivate me, but if they can't offer me that I am a bit flexible with the salary range.
Today I got an offer from them at around 8.7k. This is more than 2x what my current employer is paying me. Also, it is a fully remote position, so I won't have to change cities or spend countless hours each week on my way to work regardless of how pandemic restrictions change.
