This was a good few years ago and my hair has grown back into a proud lion mane once again (and I'm in a way better job)
Previously I worked on the bar on a holiday camp, it was awful and I have so many stories of abusive customers and the place still owes me about a grand from overtime shifts managers “forgot” to put through.
My boss and a few other managers constantly told me to cut my hair because they didn't like long hair on a man. In response I constantly pointed out they never ask the girls to cut their hair and that I always had mine tied back on shift.
Eventually I got passed up for a job working in the office solely because I refused to cut my hair. They literally told me straight up if I wasn't willing to cut my hair how could they rely on me for other things.
I applied for a new job that day, got accepted. handed in my notice at my shitty job and booked a hair appointment for the weekend before I started my new job to cut it short. Coming in on my last day with short hair and seeing the reactions was so oddly satisfying because I was doing it on my own terms.
