This is a half rant and half complete realization.
I am going through something at my current job wherein I may or may not be fired on Tuesday. I didn’t do what I am being accused of doing, they placed me on a leave of absence to find evidence to support their theory but I know it doesn’t exist and I’m being brought back on Tuesday to “discuss a plan moving forward.”
In preparation of losing my job, I have been searching for all kinds of positions. Some I am under qualified for but know I could quickly adapt to and others I am way over-qualified for but a job is a job.
Recently, all I have been hearing is “no one wants to work anymore.”
Well, after about 100+ applications and job postings I’ve applied to, it seems like your job just isn’t worth the extra hoops you want workers to jump through just to apply!!! The whole reason you have a resume is to provide the answers these people are looking for in their typed questions. A resume, cover letter, undergrad and post-grad transcripts, three references and also 500 words as to how you have contributed to your community – for a position I am WAY overqualified for and pays minimum wage or just over.
Sorry for the rant but I am so sick of employers thinking we owe them our first born children just for looking at our application.
