It hasn’t always been this way, but let’s face it all this shit is based on pure luck. Allow me to explain. First let’s say you want to go to college, well let’s hope you get lucky and can have someone pay for it or have an alternative to student debt. Well, maybe we should just get lucky and find a job that allows us to work and pay for school. Ok, let’s skip school and just go into the work force, maybe even learn a trade. Well let’s hope we get lucky with the job we get and hopefully we are paid accordingly and get benefits. Next, since we have our income and/or education locked down let’s focus on our health. Well, if we are lucky enough to have decent insurance we are okay, if not, we are fucked and could lose everything for one medical mishap. That’s okay because at the end of the day we leave work, and drive home to our house. Wait, did we get lucky enough to make enough with our job to purchase/afford a car? Let’s just assume we can! Ok, well we are really lucky and have a job, car, benefits! Hopefully we can now afford shelter, maybe we are lucky that our parents will die and leave us a house! Ok, so again… we have everything we need, by the time we are mid sixties we can retire!… or can we? Were we lucky enough to have a job, benefits, retirement funds and be lucky enough to make enough that we could set aside for retirement!? So as you can see, sure this plan will work out for a select few, but in reality, everyone else has to be extremely lucky even to just check off a few of those boxes
