I don’t think employers should have parties and “get togethers”. ESPECIALLY on Friday nights.

It puts pressure on employees to feel like they have to go to look good and move up in the company. Also, it’s taking MORE time away from their family. For example, my fiancé’s job has a monthly pizza party. Always falls on a Friday night. They have ALCOHOL provided and whatnot. I’m over here thinking, we get TWO good nights a week where we don’t have to be expected to wake up in the morning to be at work. He spends 2+ hours a day commuting and spends 9 hours at work. By the time he gets home, eats, and showers, it’s time to go to sleep. Then you’re going to try to waste part of his weekend with a stupid pizza party? So frustrating. I know they’re trying to build culture. DO IT DURING THE DAY WHEN PEOPLE ARE GETTING PAID. ETA- my fiancé typically doesn’t go, but…

ETA- my fiancé typically doesn’t go, but like I said, he gets judged. “Hey, why don’t you go to the pizza parties?” Well gee, he already has an hour to commute. Who wants to get home at 8pm on a Friday night?? Literally a 13-14 hr day. No thanks.
