So I was working at my job at the supermarket where I mostly do returns, one of the the higher ups told the manager I was putting items in the wrong spot and shouldn't be in returns, basically putting me on blast and I heard it. It was a really awkward position to be in.
The truth is that yes, I'm not amazing at returns because I don't know where many of the items go and I have to scan items constantly to know which isle they go in. I sometimes put items in the wrong spot when I can't find their proper location.
I didn't of course try to defend myself. What she said to the manager was a bit uncharitable but pretty accurate at the same time. I thought I wasn't that bad, but I guess I'm not good at this.
I'm kinda worried that I'll get fired. I don't know what position I'm even supposed to be in anymore because it constantly changes and neither the boss nor the managers talk to me about my performances or anything like that. There are never any meetings or anything.
This is one of my first real jobs and the boss knows that.
I just hope I don't have to be worried about suddenly getting fired. I don't know what I should do about asserting myself. It's a weird and confusing position to be in and I probably look like a terrible employee now after being exposed as a less than ideal worker in this one position. :/
