I started off as Cook Assistent, after two years our workplace got shut down because our place lost our license. The new owner saw me and ask If im qualified enough and If not he would be ready to hire me as apprentice. Everything worked Well until Corona hit and once again our place got shut down.
Few months later i got hired as cleaning force because i have prior experience in cleaning – because its Important to keep the kitchen clean.
I worked my way up and did work as aera manager and for about a year, but my contract was still as cleaning force. My work hours was still 6 hours even trying to get 8 hours of worktime because the Money was not enough anymore. I asked to resign my contract.
I liked my job, i ask for a bit more payment because i could no longer pay my rent. I could not believe after i heard that many of the aera managers and object leaders get paid for Minimum wage even tho they are doing good job. I wrote letter to the company and the answer i got: we want to pay all our workers the same. No one should be payed more or less because all our workers work the same hours.
I was shocked and quit the job, because i could not believe, everyone getting paid the same, ive also heard couple days later that some workers had a contract and their payment could not be raised for 2 years even If we Had new minimum wage.
Couple months later now, friend ask me if i want to work at he's place. Now i get paid twice the amount and can finally live again. After reading some storys in this Reddit, dont give up people. Try your best and look for better!
