My boss is scamming our customers. Without getting into specifics, we have a service where you can have extra things done to your items while you’re away. My boss is telling the customers we’ll do those extra things, but then she tells us not to do them because “they take up too much time” (it literally doesn’t) but she still charges the customers anyway.
Now, my boss has no money and this workplace, I feel like it is definitelly going to close soon (can’t wait for that unemployment!).
I was gone for a bit, and when I came back I thought my boss and I agreed that I would not be getting my full paycheck, only a few days worth, since I was there in person working for some days. Payday comes, nothing. I’ve texted her and she’s ignored my texts, if I text her again about something different she’ll respond immediately to that new text and just ignore my pay, so I’m not texting her until she texts me first.
We had a customer pick up their things today. They paid for the “extra” things to be done, but we didn’t do any of it because of the boss. It would’ve costed the customer around $200!! For stuff we didnt do!! But they think we did it!!!
I don’t know if it was the right decision or not but I charged them half. I do not feel morally right literally ripping off customers for the boss’s profit when she’s a shitty boss anyway, and I still feel bad that it was half the charge, but I didnt want to seem like I completely undercharged them if the boss sees it by any chance. Their total was supposed to be around $800, but it was around $700 instead.
I was the one that made that decision. My boss wasn’t there today. If she tries to pull some shit I’m still going to argue that she literally robbed me of $400 so technically, she is still at a profit after this whole situation.
I don’t know, I just feel so wrong about it! My boss makes us do this for other customers too, but their “extras” are usually around $20, but for $200 even $100 that is still A LOT of money to literally just be giving into the boss’s pockets, and I hate that the customers don’t know about it.
I’m not going to let go of the fact that she underpaid me. If next payday comes around and I didn’t get paid again I’m gonna riot.
TLDR: Boss is scamming customers by telling them we’ll do “extra” things to their items but then she tells us not to do them, and she still charges the customers just to get more money for herself. She wasn’t here today when a customer picked up their items and I didn’t charge them the full amount for their “extras.” I hate my boss!!!
