Antiwork

I feel stupid saying it, but this was the last straw.

I work for a multi-billion dollar company. I've recieved 1 raise in the past 4 years that I've been working there, and thanks to inflation I effectively make less than I did when I was hired. My bosses belittle me constantly, reject my PTO requests, and yell at me for “blindsiding” them with a PTO request 2 months in advance. I'm bullied by a coworker that I've reported to HR twice (his boss has also reported him, and his boss's boss has even had problems with him) and he's only ever recieved a “talking to” about it, which has only made it worse. It's a degrading job in a call center where customers call in and just scream at me for just doing my job. There are signs all over the office telling people to stay home if they're sick, but if you call out more than 3 days in…

There are signs all over the office telling people to stay home if they're sick, but if you call out more than 3 days in a rolling 6 month period, they fire you. Even during the global pandemic they didn't loosen their shitty attendance policy.

Because of the reasons listed above, I've been looking for a new job, but specifically ine in my desired career path. I've sent out over 100 applications and got 2 calls back (no interviews).

But today, I finally decided to say “fuck it” and just apply for any job at all that pays more and accept the first one that will take me. The straw that broke the camels back was this: We had a tour of our office going on, so to make it look nice management opened all the blinds to let as much natural light in as possible. For the first time in months I didn't feel like I was working in a prison. And then that same douchebag from above came through and closed all of the blinds because he claimed he was getting a headache. Who the fuck does he think he is to take away everyone's view of the outside and force us all to sit under these god awful florescent lights all day every day? And when people tried to open the blinds he'd just whine and close them again.

I just can't take working in this hellhole anymore.
