I got a write-up at work for asking for a half day off…that I didn’t even take.

Title says most of it. The rest is long. I moved states a while ago and was long overdue on getting new license plates for my car. I typically work 8-4:30pm M-F, which doesn't leave me a lot of time to go to the DMV (you don't need an appointment here for vehicle services). So I asked my supervisor if I could take a half day during the week but work a half day on Saturday to make up for it to allow me some time to go get my car registered. She informed me that the DMV was open on Saturdays, which I was entirely unaware of. I went that next Saturday and all was good. Or so I thought.

Today I got called into my supervisor's office where she slid me a paper and said, “You're probably expecting this, but here's a write up for the many recent alterations of your work schedule.” …Uhm no. I was not expecting this. These were my transgressions within the last month apparently:

  1. I had to go to a dentist appointment that took an hour and a half. I skipped a lunch and worked past 4:30pm later in the week to make up for that time. I got the OK from my supervisor to do this, as it was for an appointment. But was still written up for it today.

  2. I was having cleaners come to my home in the afternoon and wanted to be home while they were there. I asked my supervisor if I could work a half day in the office and work a half day from home while they're in my apartment to keep an eye on things. She said this was fine. I was written up for this today as well.

  3. The situation with the DMV. No alteration to my work schedule, just asked to switch days. Still written up.

  4. Last week, I came into the office early a few days and realized I had an extra 10 minutes on my timesheet at the end of the week. I asked my supervisor if she'd prefer I take an extra 10 on my lunch, or leave 10 minutes early for the day. She said I could leave early, but I need to give her more notice next time. And I was written up for this.

  5. The nail in the coffin: I took 15 minutes this morning to run to a coffee shop to pick up the group order for the office. Apparently this was unauthorized, which I could understand IF I didn't get a paid 20-minute break every day. I used my break to do the run, and that wasn't okay, I guess. Write-up!

Mind you, I'm supposed to be salary, so WHY we even have timesheets is beyond me, and WHY every minute of my time is being micromanaged is infuriating. I rebutted all of them on the write-up and will be requesting a meeting with her boss tomorrow. But I'm pissed. Two months ago I went above my supervisor's head for an additional raise after I felt I was shafted during my annual review. And now I think she's being petty and targeting me for dumb shit.
