I'd been there 3 weeks. On paper, I got fired for:
Doing a little relaxing craft at work (I was on my lunch break. She didnt like that I took lunch because she didn't take one.). She said I was on company time.
Doing a mail merge for name badges as she instructed and showed me how to do because I hadn't done one in a very long time and told her so. (As I was doing it I told her I was having trouble with formatting, but she blew me off and said just send it.) And in the end it wasn't what she wanted (because SHE DIDNT TELL ME ALL SHE WANTED DONE OR HOW SHE WANTED IT FORMATTED. And she had skipped steps in her explanation.”
Putting together a calendar of my schedule so she'd know when I was in the office and because it helps me visualize what my work weeks look like and plan for my family calendar. I sent it to her and as a salaried employee this was apparently no-no. (My contract was for a 40 hour work week. I was told in my interview and on boarding processes that I'd adjust my schedule to allow for events and weekend work and stay within my 40 hours. I was later told this was not correct and that I was to work as much as they needed me with no schedule shifting.)
Off paper she just didn't like me and resented my work. She didnt like that I was older than her (just a few years). When she learned my age – the look on her face was insane. She TOLD me that she makes a bad first impression, that she's a control freak, that she has a chip on her shoulder to prove herself, had trouble delegating, and doesn't like how others do things because it's not how she would do them/she didn't do it. I was hired to do events and outreach. I put together a huge proposal and a social media campaign. She was pissed. She then told me that I wouldn't be doing anything like that until maybe after the 1st of the year and had me cleaning out storage closets and taking inventories of event items.
I was already thinking of finding something else because of her behavior, but she beat me to it I guess. Now I'm unemployed with no prospects.
