I got screwed out of a promotion at Starbucks and then they threatened to write me up

I worked at Starbucks for 5 years while getting two degrees. I became a barista trainer and I’ve never had a write up. Even won partner of the quarter once. I apply for the shift supervisor position and my manager verbally tells me that I got the position at my store. A week later she tells me that there isn’t a position anymore. Even though I never applied, they tried to move me to a store with the promotion that is slower and was in the works to be closing down soon. Then she tags me in our store GroupMe and saying she hired someone else for the position. This person is less qualified. I know of this person and she’s pretty conservative and she’s probably the only person to vote against the union at her previous store. My guess is that they wanted to place her at my original…

My guess is that they wanted to place her at my original store to have her as an informant for busting unions. I’m absolutely devastated and I request a transfer to another store. I come to talk to my new manager on Monday morning to explain my situation and get approved for a transfer. The district manager arrives to the store at the same time. I get bombarded by my district manager threatening to write me up for not properly calling out of a shift when having a panic attack. I proceed to explain that I texted my previous manager that I wouldn’t be able to come in for my shift.

I ended up quitting. Starbucks has really gone down hill over the last few years. They don’t promote from within stores anymore. They hire management from outside companies that didn’t grow with the company over the years and gloss over those who have put in their time With the company. Even if you are qualified or over qualified for positions, they still will place people who benefit their own agenda in positions of power. They don’t care about anyone. No one should work for a company like this. This is all what I have observed in my region.
