I just want enough income to not feel like I’m holding the people who support me back. I’m not greedy or lazy. I live as simply as I can while maintaining some semblance of mental health and participation in society, but things break and emergencies happen and I unfortunately need money to survive.
A friend of a friend referred me for a job at a small business. I went in and interviewed with the owner, got the tour, and talked to the other employees. When I asked how much the job paid, the owner said we should step outside and discuss it.
$9.50/hr. Fucking $9.50/hr. Barely $300/wk after taxes.
I just emailed the interviewer and told her that was way too low an offer for me to accept.
I just want to do something worthwhile with the limited time I have on this rock.
