This is mainly just a vent because I don’t think there is anything I can do about it except to vent.
My spouse works for a utility company as customer service in their call center. We live in Tampa and about to get hit with a hurricane. When they were hired they signed a contract about being available for hurricanes.
We have a cruise set to leave next week from Miami so the hurricane isn’t going to be affecting it. However his job put him on notice that they might cancel the pto and everyone’s pto for this week was already canceled. They can’t guarantee that they will reimburse the cost of the cruise and the insurance we paid won’t cover this cancellation since we are not sick, quarantined etc.
We have been looking forward to this cruise for almost a year. We’ve watched so many videos, booked excursions, got family to take off and house sit and bring the kiddos to school.
My heart is breaking. And I know there are people that can’t find jobs and this is such a first world problem but we both hate our jobs and this has been the only thing keeping us sane. The only thing we have been holding out for. Just keep busting our butts and taking it like a champ so we can celebrate both of our birthdays and wedding anniversary together on the cruise.
I’m just so overwhelmed and crushed. Currently trying to drain my pool to prep for the storm while crying at my desk.
