I hate how the Toast payment systems at cafes and take out restaurants show you a tip screen at checkout

Don’t get me wrong, of course the workers deserve a fair wage, but the company should be giving it to them, not the customer. Tipping for a takeout order should be there if you want to do it for awesome service. I work in a tipped industry too. But for cafes and take out orders, I really don’t think there should be pressure to tip. Have the tip page on its own screen and when you’re paying while the worker is watching you choose an option is stressful and uncomfortable if you don’t want to tip, which I don’t think should be an expectation for a takeout cafe order. Leave a tip jar out if people want to drop in a dollar, but feeling expected to hit “15% tip” on a take out sandwich or ice cream order on the Toast screen every time is pressure I don’t want to…

Leave a tip jar out if people want to drop in a dollar, but feeling expected to hit “15% tip” on a take out sandwich or ice cream order on the Toast screen every time is pressure I don’t want to have to deal with and makes me feel guilty when I don’t tip, even though it really shouldn’t be an expectation.
