My bf has known his boss for like 10 years and they are considered close friends. She owns several businesses and my bf works at her gas station/liquor store (2 jobs). He gets paid minimum wage, no benefits and is struggling to pay bills, I always have to pay for dinners and sometimes his gas, which I don't mind but I really wish he would just get a better job. He says he can't because he “owes her so much”, “she's a great person”, and “gives him many work opportunities.” Like what? Like having you mow the fields on her farm and still paying you minimum wage? Driving tractors for her 12hrs a day sometimes and coming home with $100?
What really irks me is when she brags about how well she treats/pays her employees ($50 christmas bonus to her favorites was a big point for her ) and he just eats it up. I guess I'm so irritated because today we ran into her and she told us how much she just spent on a new camper and 2 new cows, one cow is just a fucking pet. Same day she handed my bf a check of $300 for 2 weeks of work.
I'm trying so hard to convince my bf she's not as generous and caring and she seems and he should get a real job, but she really is one of his best friends and he's completely fucking blind. I hate seeing him struggle like this while still thinking he's so blessed and grateful for his leech of a boss.
edit: I get it guys, boss is female so they're definitely fucking. He is the same way about her husband who also uses him for free/cheap labor on their farm and has been his friend for years.
