I hate my companies anti work from home policies

It is so incredibly frustrating. I work in an incredibly small office of 8 people, and tomorrow 6 of those 8 are going to be either working from home themselves or out and taking a long weekend because of labor day. I think its important to preface that every single person other than me has “manager” in their title so they can just decide to work from home if they need to. I send an email out to my boss asking since every one else was out tomorrow if I could also work from home, the response I got was Hey, It looks like the only people out are (lists all 6 people that will be out). Hey,

It looks like the only people out are (lists all 6 people that will be out).
The rest will be in.

Bosses name.

First of all this did not even answer my question of if I could work from home or not, and second of all “the rest will be in”? If I got to work from home their would only be one guy there how is that “the rest”.

I get why working from home at a large scale could have problems if it doesn't work out in the long run, but someone whose job can be completed from home on days were it would be nice or convenient for the employee makes sense and I don't know why they dangle it over our heads like reward for being a good employee.

The worse part is they don't even care what I do at work, for the majority of the last 3 weeks I have just sat at my desk with my headphones in watching the the Sopranos, but dear lord the whole corporate ladder would collapse if their lone CAD drafter watched the Sopranos at home instead of in the office.
