At my current job the owners sold back in November, there were 3 managers at that time. Of the 3 the one there longest got promoted to general manager and took on the owners duties.
But the GM and 1 of the managers are basically bff's and the nepotism is heavy. The GM will schedule herself for shifts and not show up, or show up and leave when she wants. Her BFF gets to pick afternoon shifts and sits around on her phone all day.
The last 2 days were the final straw for me giving a damn. So I work at a dog daycare and spring break has us swamped and it's SUPER busy. Well, they recently hired another manger who's the BFF managers roommate.
Me and the new manager were working the back basically clean and making food and waters etc etc, but because it's sooo busy wee were behind. She's new (less than 2 months) and I've never worked large group play before (when the yard attendant stays in the yard and we are responsible for rotating dogs all day). For reference there were about 70 dogs in the building just FOOD I had to make breakfast and dinner for ALL the dogs..that's 140 foods to make. And that's just food.
The GM and the BFF had the audacity to complain that me and the new manager was running behind. They didn't offer to help at all even tho they weren't doing anything important. The GM came in for 1 hour then left, the BFF was on her phone at the front desk. I asked the BFF to do ONE thing to help us and she got attitude and only did half the work.
It just blows my mind that they offered no help yet complained about it. The way the duties are set up makes no sense and u often end up doing the same thing over and over. We were basically responsible for running the entire building except reception.
Also one of my coworkers called out before and the 4th manager told her she's replaceable. Multiple times ppl have called out and I was left to do 2 positions alone. Meanwhile the GM and BFF can do as little work as possible?? This is only some of the stuff. Multiple Ppl have quit because of the managers too.
I'm currently looking for a new job with higher pay, also the drive is 30min and with gas prices it isn't worth it. I love the dogs but I can't stay there. I've called out 1 day a week the past 2 weeks, I usually feel guilty about it but I just don't want to be there. I've been way more depressed lately, on my off days I can't even get out of bed because I dread going to work. In total of 8months I've called out 3-4 times.
I called out again and I feel kinda bad because the work load is so heavy and me not being there will be tough for my coworkers who are innocent. HOWEVER if one person calling out means the whole place falls apart then there's a bigger issue right?
