I hate Target the most

I have very obvious Scoliosis, it's extremely painful every day and I can barely breathe. I haven't had any luck finding a job that would cater to my disability. I tried Goodwill many times but was never called back, and someone said Target and Walmart hire people with disabilities. It was early covid times and I never had an interview, I was hired at Target after recording videos of myself answering questions. First day I'm in a room with other people watching a video of how Target welcomes everyone regardless of race or disability, they show managers in wheelchairs and all that so I thought this job is gonna be perfect. I was told that proof of vaccinations would get me some pay per shot, and because I was getting my shot one day, I called and said I was going to be 10 minutes late. Didn't think it'd be…

Didn't think it'd be a big deal, but that's when the bad stuff started.

I had to go to a meeting with my two bosses that were always together, they said “We take these things very seriously, if you're late one more time it'll be very likely you'll be terminated after the 90 day trial period.” I can't remember the exact words.

I didn't know exactly what my job was going to be, but I had to stock, clean up shelves, put heavy items back, cashieering. You show up and push these heavy carts around all day long and there's just not enough time.. When they call on radio that they need help with cashieering, I was supposed to drop everything I was doing and go run and help them. Got yelled at when I prioritized putting items back because if I failed that I'd also get yelled at. Got yelled at for being slow. I was the shortest person there so I was told to use a ladder at all times which was heavy, bulky, awkward. Painful to drag around.

I had to go to meetings every 2-3 days to be told I wasn't good enough, that I was gonna be fired. They pointed at my much younger and healthy coworkers running down the ailes to get things done and they told me they expect that kind of performance and I need to do better.

So after many weeks of the yelling and meetings. I hurt myself lifting things, went to the doctor that x-rayed my back and they said I should not be working at all, I should be resting. They also said I should talk to HR.

I contacted HR, they investigated and told me since my scoliosis is something I was born with and not the result of a work injury that I won't be catered to in any way, it was a complete waste of time, on top of it, now the two bosses seemed to dislike me even more.

They said that I should've told them about my disability during the job interview. I told them I never really had one. They told I should've made a better effort in letting them know.

At some point I said maybe I could do more cashieering instead but was told I wasn't hired for that and I should've known that from the job description. I don't remember any of what my job was from the description. Had I known it was going to be this fast-paced and heavy I never would've taken it in a million years. I expected something I could somewhat handle..

The 90 days was coming up, so I just quit before they fired me.

Still haven't found a job were I can sit. Nowadays I stand 5 hours straight and cry myself to sleep and cry while I'm asleep, according to my wife.
