A specific company hired my dad around 3 years ago and gave him a “raise” of around $20k more than he was making previously. So yeah my dad took it. He soon figured out that that raise really didn’t do him any good because their benefits/insurance is trash and my dad ended up paying more for insurance.
About a year later during the summer when I was 16, I worked there as a “summer worker” for $8.50 AN HOUR. I worked most40-hour work weeks and some 50-hour work weeks with little overtime pay and I can’t believe I didn’t think anything was wrong with it. I did about as much as any regular full-time position there besides being able to use a forklift. Full time makes around $17 an hour.
Fast forward to recently, my dad got laid off by his boss in a way that was completely and utterly unethical for basically nothing and the owner of the company was never told until my dad contacted him. The owner eventually made it “right” with which was basically a bribe for my dad not to sue them.
He since got a job which is even better than before and I just said fuck working for a company and I have since had a couple really good lawn mowing seasons with my own business.
Fuck that company.
They were all assholes.
