I have an undiagnosed medical condition (my doctor couldn't figure it out and is referring me to specialist) that causes me to get sick randomly. Nausea, throwing up, whole nine yards. My boss is aware, I've told him about it. This week I called off Wednesday and today because I was sick and I was even feeling sick but hadn't thrown up on Thursday so I went to work. I was supposed to close which means they'll have to find someone else to close or god forbid he'll have to close himself.
Anyways while on the phone he told me he wants to have a talk with me tomorrow about it and mentioned wanting “a doctor's note or something” which he specifically told me he doesn't care about like a few weeks ago. I know how this conversation is gonna go. He's gonna try and make me feel like shit for having a condition I didn't ask for and staying home to rest instead of sucking it up and coming in anyway. I didn't have the energy to say anything over the phone. I work at an oil change place so sucking it up isn't even an option, it gets too hot and will cause me to throw up.
When are we going to abolish work??? I'm so tired of having my condition used against me. I hate this culture around work that they've been allowed to create where they forget their employees are human. This model is not sustainable. For those who don't have medical issues that cause them to miss work or struggle at work, they get taken advantage of until they DO have medical problems later. And for those of us who already have issues, they try their best to avoid us or get rid of us. I'm tired of all of this.
