I am only 15, but I decided to share my story with you guys. I work at a local A&W restaraunt near my house that I walk to almost every day after school. I have been working here for 7 and a half months now and on the 24th I put in my two weeks, because I have been cheated nearly a thousand dollars due to the owner refusing to give me any of the raises I was promised, and also nearly 30 hours missing on two combined checks. When I started I was offered 8.50 (seeing as I'm only 15 I thought “wow I'm about to be rich!”) With a promise of a 50 cent raise after 3 months and another dollar raise after 6 months. After 3 months they congratulated me on being such a hard worker and promoted me to a shift lead and I was supposed to make 10 dollars an hour. Another monthe goes by and I am still only making 8.50 I ask the general manager why that is and she proceeds to tell me not everything is about money. I was like fine whatever I really need this job to save for a car. After 2 months go by I have been there for 6 months and I notice my check says I have only worked 10 hours which I know isn't true because I keep all of my time slips. I ask the general manager and she is aghast. She goes to the owner and he contacts me privately and essentially says to suck it up because the system made a mistake and it won't happen again. The next payche k comes in and it has happened again. I contact the owner directly this time and say if I don't get compensated for my missing hours I will be quitting. He says he will see what he can do. About a month later I have still not been compensated and I quit saying that if I don't get my overdue money I will by suing (my parents will help me do this) am I right in this situation or am I over reacting?
