I am now a 38 year old man with a halfway decent job and a home.
The problem is I had to serve in the military just so I could afford to go to college and get a degree for the field that I am in. I have seen horrible things that I hope no one ever sees. Why is that the only way I could be in the position I am in?
The thing is I make a livable wage. I have just enough for food, mortgage, car payment, and student loan debt.
Why is this so hard? I can’t even imagine what it is like for those working under what I am. I am doing ok, but why is it that I feel like every time I make one step forward, this society is pushing me 2 steps back.
Once again, the fact that there are millions out there working below my pay level tells me that this system is not sustainable.
