I have interviewed with an integrated health clinic and I’m seeing a red flag regarding use of medication while on the job (no, not mind altering drugs), and I’d like advice

Of course, here is where I turn… I take a few medications (NOT MIND ALTERING) as I have a few health issues. I’ve spoken about them at length in past posts on other subs, if you feel like looking into that. I had a third interview (second in person) at an integrated health clinic. They offer health insurance, seem like a good fit for what I can do, and pay well. (I am not a medical provider, I’d be doing administrative work). And something kind of red flagged me. The doctor at the last interview made a comment about America being overmedicated (not wrong), gave me statistics, etc. Which is fine! They try to do healthcare without excessive meds. But he made a comment about living and acting out the lifestyle while at work. He said “don’t be talking about taking an Advil for your headache, do that on your…

He said “don’t be talking about taking an Advil for your headache, do that on your own time”. That left a really nasty taste in my mouth.

Sure, I don’t have to talk to patients about medications. But what would they think of me, on mental and physical health meds? Do I need to hide when I take my heart medication (which is by the way not needed because of an unhealthy lifestyle but for other factors)? Doctor talked about patients needing to take responsibility for their health, which is true, but I’m afraid someone is going to see my antidepressant bottle in my purse and lecture me or even fire me if I’m hired. And that’s a very weird spot to be at.

I’m afraid of judgment. I do understand where they’re coming from, but what do they really stand for if they “don’t do meds”? America IS vastly overmedicated but how far does this stance go?

And now I’m worried about work persecution (if I am hired) because I simply take medication that is prescribed and non addictive. Heart med, antidepressant, antipsychotic because I had a psychotic break back in 2016.

Does this make sense? I don’t know how appropriate this is for this sub, but I need help here and advice. Does this seem wrong to you? I want to ask to elaborate but I don’t want to not get a job because I take necessary medications. Which seems so wrong.
